NEO4J virtual talk on resilience and inclusion
In May 2025, I had the privilege of delivering a NEO4J virtual talk on resilience and inclusion through Champions Speakers Agency. Speaking to one of the world’s most innovative tech companies, whose focus on graph databases and AI is transforming the way we understand connections, was both exciting and deeply relevant to my own journey.
The Power of Connections – in Technology and in Life
NEO4J’s entire mission centres around connections: how data points link, how relationships shape outcomes, and how insights emerge when we view the bigger picture. In my talk, I shared how this mirrors human resilience.
Life is not about isolated moments, but about the network of people, choices, and challenges that define who we are. From waking up paralysed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) to climbing some of the world’s toughest mountains on crutches and KAFOs, my journey has been about building and strengthening those “human graphs.” Every connection – family, colleagues, teammates, medical staff, and even moments of failure – has been a node in the bigger story of resilience.
If you’d like to explore more about this, my Get Back Up blog series dives deeper into how challenges become opportunities.
Inclusion at the Heart of Innovation
What struck me about NEO4J is their genuine commitment to inclusion. Large organisations often focus on technical growth, but NEO4J also prioritises culture, belonging, and employee resource groups (ERGs).
I emphasised that inclusion is not a “nice to have.” It is a business driver. Creating space for diverse voices not only supports wellbeing but also fuels innovation. In fact, research shows the UK economy loses over £82 billion annually due to inaccessible workplaces (Scope UK).

Resilience Lessons for Tech Leaders
Resilience is often misunderstood as “just bouncing back.” For me, resilience is about getting back up differently – stronger, smarter, and with new perspective. During the NEO4J virtual talk, I shared practical lessons that tech leaders can apply:
- Recognise your graph – know the people and systems that connect you.
- Invest in wellbeing – resilience is built on health, not burnout.
- Create inclusive spaces – diversity of thought fuels creativity and progress.
- Adapt with purpose – change is inevitable, growth is optional.

Why This Talk Mattered
Every event is unique, but this talk with NEO4J reminded me of the global reach and impact of resilience. Whether it’s overcoming a life-changing diagnosis or helping a team navigate AI-driven transformation, the principles remain the same: connection, inclusion, and courage.
I am grateful to Champions Speakers Agency for the opportunity, and to NEO4J for engaging so openly in the conversation. Together, we highlighted that resilience is not just personal – it’s cultural and organisational.
Conclusion: Building Stronger Connections
Technology continues to evolve, but the human need for resilience and inclusion remains constant. Speaking to NEO4J about these themes reinforced how powerful it can be when we connect the technical with the human, and when innovation meets empathy.
If your organisation is looking for a motivational speaker to inspire resilience, inclusion, and adaptability, I would be delighted to book a talk and share my story and strategies with your team.
